[General description] The popular coastal passenger / cargo liner MV 'Moonta' (2,700 tons), when newly built by Burmeister & Wain shipyard in Copenhagen Denmark for the Adelaide Steamship Company. She plied between Adelaide and Port Lincoln with stops at various coastal ports, including Kingscote when necessary. She carried large amounts of cargo, mostly wool, as well as lead, pig iron and groceries.
