Yelta Copper Mine, near Moonta 1911. Surface installation. Yelta Mine adjoins northern boundary of Moonta Mine. Blast furnaces (2) erected by "Paramatta and Yelta Mines (French Company) 1903/7. Property was purchased by the Verran government and worked as a State enterprise from June 1911 to June 1913.Yelta is a satelitte village to the town of Moonta located on the Copper Coast on Yorke Penninsula

Hughes' Pumping House

Hughes' Pumping Engine House at Moonta Mines - engine was made by Harvey and Company of Hayle, Cornwall, 1863. Erected about that date and worked continuously to November 1923. Drained the whole of underground workings on the main line of Elders and Elders West Lodes. Diameter of steam cylinder 60 inches. This classic Cornish engine house was constructed alongside Hughes Shaft by John Beaglehole between late 1863 and early 1865. It was named after Walter Watson Hughes, the founder of the Moonta Mining Company.
