[General description] This pair of cottages was originally a group of three workmen's cottages. They have been remodelled in the popular Bungalow style of the era with a large half timbered gable at the front. Lower North Adelaide probably in the eighteen sixties looking east. On the right is the intersection of Stanley Street and Jerningham Street. The house facing the end of Stanley street is in Park Terrace, Gilberton. Kingston Terrace is immediately to the right of the double row of posts and rails on the left of the photo. There are large tracts of park lands surrounding blocks of houses.

The Congregational Church on the south eastern corner of Stanley Street and Brougham Place. The baroque church on the hill was begun in 1860 and was finished in 1872. The tower was added in 1872 and large and extensive buildings were added at the rear of the church in approximately 1877. It is similar to St Phillip's Church in Birmingham which was completed in 1715.

[General description] This large two storey house has a Mediterranean feel with its tiled roof and loggia. It is set behind a high stone wall which has a gate set into an archway. The house next door with the widow's walk and mansard roof is St. Andrew's. Both of these properties back on to Kingston Terrace. Stanley Street, North Adelaide, north side, in December 1916. Lawson's Store is a two storey building which features an unusual flagstaff, accessed by a ladder from its first floor balcony. This was taken down before 1924. A large advertisement for Lion Brand Groceries is displayed on its balcony. The left side of the shop is 90 yards north east of West Pallant Street. The villa on the opposite corner has a large bay window over looking the parklands and the house itself is surrounded by a brick wall.

Adelaide Parklands looking east from East Terrace from a point about 60 yards north of Wakefield Street. The area in the foreground has been planted with young olive trees. This olive grove was planted in 1870. In 1971 George McEwin, founder of Glen Ewin Jam factory, urged the Adelaide Council to graft the large number of olive trees on the East Park Lands, implying the seedlings were planted the previous year or earlier. This photograph shows paths criss crossing the Parklands between East Terrace and Dequetteville Terrace and the Adelaide hills looming in the distance.

Adelaide Bridge, King William Road, looking south. This iron bridge was opened in 1856, widened in 1877 and converted to a two lane bridge in 1884. A large Coat of Arms adorns the railings over the river. King William Road can be seen travelling south to North Terrace and the Post Office Tower is in the background.

[General description] This large archway was erected across the roadway in front of the Cheer Up Hut to welcome returning Anzacs. It was the first to be erected in Adelaide and is newly completed in this photograph. A car is being driven under the arch towards the Cheer Up Hut.
