Port Pirie Technical School
[General description] This two storey, concrete rendered building with a tiled roof was built in 1925 by contractor Frederick Fricker on a site in Ellen Street adjoining the High School. The cost of this project was over 9,300. The school has large windows and a pair of Dutch gables over its front porch. [On back of photograph] 'Port Pirie Technical School / Before 1927'.

Panorama of the Overland Telegraph Station at Barrow Creek, sketched in pencil, including details of two buildings, telegraph poles, a camel in the foreground and large escarpments in the background. Barrow Creek is situated about half way between Alice Springs and Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory.
Kadina Township
Lithographic print of a panorama of the main street of Kadina. At extreme left is Robert Hall's store. The large building (centre) is Henry Nankervis's Kadina Hotel (the chimney indicates the location of his distillery). Further to the right is the Wombat Hotel (dark roof), and at extreme right is the two-storey White Lion Hotel. The railway line to Wallaroo is situated where the cart (foreground) is running.
Mitcham Church, near Adelaide, S.A
Detailed watercolour painting of Saint Michael's Church in Mitcham. Note on verso reads 'artwork published in The Chronicle, January 30, 1947'. This church is one of the oldest in Adelaide. It is constructed of stone from a local quarry and has an imposing tower. It is set in large grounds. River Red gums can be seen to the right of the church. Later it was found that the church was too small so the southern part was remodelled to create an almost square church
Providence Hill, Escape Creek, S.W. by S
Pencil sketch 3 of Providence Hill, Escape Creek, looking S.S.E. to S. by W. over a landscape. Two male figures seated on a flat rock in the foreground, which spans out to a wide vista beyond, including various flora as well as undulating hills on the horizon. The figures appear to be examining, recording and drawing floral specimens from the immediate area. Both figures are similarly dressed yet are wearing notably different hats. The figure on the left wears a military styled piece, yet his partner appears to be wearing either a large, panelled beret, or perhaps an eastern styled, cane sunhat. Both men are pictured with weapons of sheathed hand guns. The men have also equipped themselves with duffle bags, perhaps to carry their drawing equipment. One can assume this is a typical scene from McKinley's Exploring Expedition.

New Victoria [Port Essington]
An engraving from the 'Atlas Picturesque', plate 120' from a drawing by Louis LeBreton, lithographed by Sabatier, and printed by Lemercier of Paris. The drawing shows a number of buildings and people. Some buildings are on stilts and some are thatched. A large flag is flying from the main building. The European people are armed with sticks while the Tiwi people stand in groups watching. A pandanus tree is in the foreground. Port Essington was a settlement on the Cobourg Penninsula, Northern Territory, settled by British Soldiers in 1838. The engraving bears the inscription 'Voyage au Pole Sud et Dans L'Oceanie' and it seems likely the originally drawing was done on the return voyage of the French ship 'Astrolobe'.
Trigonoderus Chidrenii
Pencil and watercolour drawing of a Phasma, or large stick insect. Artwork is signed and dated, and inscribed 'Trigonderus Chidrenii. This fine Phasma is one of the largest South Australian Othroptera'.

[General description] Watercolour sketch on paper attributed to Skipper, of two figures cutting wood on the Adelaide Plains. The figure on the left holds a large tree saw and the one on the right swings a mallet. The Adelaide plains are illustrated in the background. Artwork is inscribed 'Sept 1846' bottom right corner. Methodist Church, Port Augusta showing a large stone church on a tree lined street.
"General deSonis"
[General description] The French barque 'General deSonis', stranded near Port Victoria on March 16th, 1913 with a smaller vessel alongside. She was grounded with a full cargo of wheat having dragged her anchors as a result of a severe storm, later refloated. A large quantity of spoiled wheat had to be jettisoned to refloat her and it washed up on the shores of Spencer Gulf for some time after and rotted, creating a nuisance for some time.

[General description] This view is looking through the front gates and along the drive where a young man in uniform stands holding a horse. The house is mostly obscured by trees which are part of a large garden. St. Cuthbert's Anglican Church, Prospect
St. Cuthbert's Anglican Church, Prospect. The building was constructed in 1883 and was used for worship until the new and larger St. Cuthbert's was built in 1915 due to a large increase in the number of worshippers.
Quorn
Awaiting the train bringing home soldiers from the South African War. The railway station was built in 1879 with a turntable added in 1891-92. This photograph shows the townsfolk welcoming back soldiers from the South African War with a large banner stating "Welcome Home Boys".
Eight hours day, Quorn
Eight hours day, Quorn. A large banner is being held aloft during the start of the Eight Hour Day Parade. Each year this occasion remembers the stonemasons who marched to Parliament House to push for an eight hour working day. Because of them the 48 hour week was instigated.
Ramco
[General description] A view of the neat village of Ramco with its vineyards and orchards, featuring native vegetation in the foreground. Ramco was a formed after a group of residents split from the original Waikerie settlement, part of the 'Village Settlement Scheme' created by the South Australian government in the early 1890's to assist the large numbers of unemployed in Adelaide. [General Description] This is a view of a bend in the River Murray. The eucalypts grow to the banks on either side of the river and there is a sandy area in the foreground. Light Memorial, Rapid Bay
Light Memorial, Rapid Bay. In the 1920's a large rock was found at Rapid Bay inscribed with 'W L 1836'. The original stone is now held by the History Trust, with a replica located on the Rapid Bay foreshore.

[General description] This view shows a street of Renmark, unsealed, with its street trees, utility poles and buildings. There are many cars parked at the kerbside. Over the street is hanging a large sign with the words: 'Thanks for the buggy ride but gee, we like the train'. This view is taken from the river and shows the front of the building. It was built as an English style 'Gentleman's Club' in 1909 with women being excluded until the early 1960s. It is now a popular venue for all of the community with bar, dining and function facilities.

[General description] This is the main building at Roseworthy Agricultural College, constructed in 1883. It is a symmetrical two storey stone building with brick dressings and a central three level clock tower over a large arched entrance. There are gables at either end.
