Album of photographs mostly taken about 1926 by Alexander Harrold (Alec) Holborn. Includes views of Victor Harbor and buildings, Granite Island and environs, visit of the Prince of Wales to Adelaide in 1926, SA Amateur Swimming Association activities at Glenelg and on the Torrens, Adelaide and environs, and the Holborn family. Captain and crew of the 'Galatea'
The Duke of Edinburgh photographed on board the flagship 'Galatea' (whilst moored at Glenelg), sitting with the captain and crew. The photo was taken during his visit to South Australia in 1867. According to a researcher, it is possible one of the officers is Staff Commander William Henry Bradley.

The album comprises photographs collected by Messenger Press, many of which have been published in the various suburban editions of the paper. Photographs include the following: Exhibition building and Adelaide Town Hall taken at night, with outlines or the buildings lit by lights, warship thought to be HMS 'Repulse' which visited Adelaide as part of the Special Services Squadron World Cruise 1923-1924, navy parade in Adelaide, girls in bathing costumes pictured at the beach, visits to the Blue Lake at Mt Gambier, 'Dingley Dell', home of Adam Lindsay Gordon at Port MacDonnell, obelisk in memory of Adam Lindsay Gordon near the Blue Lake, Mount Gambier, waterfalls thought to be Mackenzie Falls in the Grampians, Victoria, view of the mansion, Rippon Lea in Melbourne, with several photographs of the glass houses and pigeon enclosure. Some of the photographs are faded and this album has not been digitised.

Originally housed in labelled sleeves with an index, they feature the Bachmann and Plunket families, as well as more general scenes. The original envelope number is shown in square brackets after the description of each image, and can be cross-referenced to the index (see B 71826/656). No negative in envelope 415; no negative in envelope 427 (labelled Father & Mother 7/1/17 ' good'); no negative in envelope 442 M. Howard - O'Hare group - returned to E Howard'; nos. 432. Jack & Bob 1912 [no.94] not copied; no negative for photo 443. Train in King William Street [no.191]. Photos 476-481 are acetate negatives, so possibly of a later date.
