Photograph taken on the steamboat 'Perseverance', the first steamboat on the Glenelg River, built at Nelson about 1879. An article in the Border Watch dated 5/3/1898 states that the vessel called the Perseverance was built by Mr Anderson of Port MacDonnell for Mr D. Matheson at a cost of 800 pounds.
