Glenelg and the Patawalonga (research paper)

An extensive research paper on 'Glenelg and the Patawalonga', compiled by Doug Mackenzie. The original document, comprising 'historical notes with comments on past mistakes and future goals for Glenelg in the twenty first century' was completed in 1990. Incorporated into this are copies of correspondence, minutes and newspaper cuttings that document attitudes and decisions taken over the 1939-1990 period, together with Doug Mackenzie's text. He added an introduction in November 2007.

The Glenelg Baths. On 11th March 1876 Mayor Wigley officially opened the jetty and baths for men and boys. The Glenelg Bathing Company Limited ran the baths (also known as a 'Natatorium'). The whole construction formed an enclosure which used piles and stakes 4" apart to exclude sharks. There were hot saltwater baths and freshwater showers.
