[General description] The Servants' Home, originally established in 1862 in Gilles Street moved to this two storey stone building in 1876. The Home provided temporary accommodation for newly arrived female immigrants, and for servants who were convalescing or temporarily unemployed. It closed about 1896. [General description] Liverpool Building is seen from the opposite side of the road. It is a four storey brick building with concrete rendered facade in the 1920s Renaissance Revival style. Note the petrol bowser on the right. [On back of photograph] 'Acre 272 / Flinders Street, south side / Feb. 28, 1926 / Liverpool Building erected in 1925 on a vacant site. Frontage: 15 1/2 yards. Right side is 20 1/2 yards east of Gawler Place.'

[General description] A single fronted two storey building dominates this view. It is built from rendered stone with cement dressings and arched doorway and windows. It features a stepped parapet with decorative urns and the inscription "ESTb 1893". At this time it is the premises for the Adelaide Shorthand and Business Training Academy. On the left is W. Stewart, Deep Drainage and Sanitary Work Contractor, and on the right is Barnes' Modeller, which displays various cement building and garden ornaments in its window. Above its roof the spire of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church can be seen. [On back of photograph] 'Acre 272 / Flinders Street. [General description] This four storey building has a concrete rendered facade with arched windows on its upper storey. The parapet features twin archways, one with a decorative wrought iron gate, the other with a window. H.H. Gibbs & Sons' Quick Lunch Cafe is next door. St. Francis Xavier's Hall, Adelaide

St. Francis Xavier's Hall, Adelaide, south side of Wakefield Street, standing on the east side of the St. Francis Xavier Cathedral. The building was designed by Wright and Woods and built in 1865. Original appears to be a watercolour, possibly done at the time the architectural plans were drawn in 1865. The side of the Hall is 31 yards west of Gawler Place, and its frontage is 14 yards.

Wakefield Street, south side, 1 April 1942, the left side is 14 yards west of the western alignment of Gawler Place, frontage 21.5 yards. The centre building was erected in 1941 on a site partly occupied by a wood and iron structure. Compare with B 9903. Acre 339 sits next to St Francis Xavier Cathedral on the corner of Wakefield Street and Victoria Square.
