Witchelina Station

British Tube Mills factory, Kilburn
Collection of 93 glass plate negatives of the British Tube Mills factory at Kilburn from the beginning of the factory's construction in 1939 until 1952. The images show machinery and procedures used in the factory in the manufacture of various prodcuts including gas cylinders and cycle rims. Workers feature in some of the images.

John Taggart Stainbank
Portrait photograph of No. 1016 Lance-Sergeant John (Jack) Taggart Stainbank in military uniform, who was born in Parkside. He was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal in 1918, for "endeavouring to dig out four men of his platoon who had been buried in a trench under heavy lachrymatory gas attack. The position was under continuous shell fire the whole time, and although badly gassed himself, he carried out his duties with the greatest devotion, and set a splendid example to his platoon."
