Reaping operations at C.B. Fisher's Hill River Estate by horsedrawn harvesters. Hill River Estate was two miles east of Clare in the country of Stanley - Area 60,000 acres. The photograph shows dozens of horsedrawn reaping machines as far as the eye can see. Where the crops are high only the top of the horses and machines can be seen.

Loading wool, onto horsedrawn wagons from the Woolshed on Hill River Estate which is near Clare on the upper reaches of Hill River, named after explorer John Hill. Hill River Estate was one of the great pastoral properties in South Australia in the 1800's. It was owned by CB Fisher and later John Angas and held records for the production of wool and sheep.
