Bungaree station homestead. George Hawker and his two brothers selected the area for their head station in 1841. They purchased 2000 sheep from New South Wales and established Bungaree Station. By the time of this photograph the property ran 100 thousand merino sheep. The historic Bungaree Homestead Complex included the homestead, manager's house, council chamber, stables, office, store, men's kitchen, shearing shed, swagman's hut, stallion box and gate house

[General description] This perspective view down the Clare Road at Kapunda shows a line of telegraph poles receding into the distance. The corner store on the right is S.Wright, Fruiterer and on the left is J. Skull & Co.'s General Stores with advertisements for Viceroy Tea and Arab Coffee painted on the side of the building. [General description] Township buildings and gardens can be seen on either side along the Clare Road. Telegraph poles run along the road, from S. Wright , Fruiterer's corner. On the left is H.J. Mrs Mary Ann Blood

Mrs Mary Ann Blood

Mrs Mary Ann Blood, wife of Dr Matthew H. S. Blood. Marianne was born April 4, 1816 in County Clare. She married Matthew her third cousin when she was 17. They had 11 children. Dr Matthew Henry Smyth Blood was born in County Clare and became a qualified medical practitioner in 1831. His family sailed for South Australia aboard the "Success" arriving in 1848. In Kapunda he was Mines Doctor until 1860. He founded the Kapunda Freemason's Lodge of which he became the first Master. He was Kapunda's first mayor and loved by many in the town. He died aged 75.

The Clare to Blyth mail coach at Clare. The coach is shown without its horse team with a man is sitting in the driver's seat accompanied by a little boy. The service was replaced by a motor coach in 1924.
