The images comprise waves crashing on rocks and a quiet bay, with the box label reading 'Port Elliot'. The negatives were originally from Charles Hoffmann [assumed to be Hoffmann Photographics, Victor Harbor]. Kodak plates.

The Hindmarsh River rises in the Mount Lofty Ranges below Mount Cone and flows through the Hindmarsh Valley before reaching its mouth and emptying into Encounter Bay at Victor Harbor. John Monash established the South Australian Reinforced Concrete Company which built the Hindmarsh River Railway Bridge at Victor Harbor. This bridge is the first reinforced concrete bridge in Australia and one of the first reinforced concrete girder bridges

An agreement was reached whereby stonemasons worked no longer than eight hours a day. It was the first of a series of long, hard fought victories for shorter working hours
