Hindmarsh River Bridge
The Bridge over Hindmarsh River, Victor Harbor. The Hindmarsh River rises in the Mount Lofty Ranges below Mount Cone and flows through the Hindmarsh Valley before reaching its mouth and emptying into Encounter Bay at Victor Harbor. John Monash established the South Australian Reinforced Concrete Company which built the Hindmarsh River Railway Bridge at Victor Harbor. This bridge is the first reinforced concrete bridge in Australia and one of the first reinforced concrete girder bridges

It began with stonemasons walking off the job in Melbourne in protest of employers refusing to reduce their working hours. An agreement was reached whereby stonemasons worked no longer than eight hours a day. It was the first of a series of long, hard fought victories for shorter working hours
