The South African War Memorial (also known as the Boer War Memorial or, prior to 1931, the National War Memorial) is an equestrian memorial dedicated to the South Australians who served in the Second Boer War of 11 October 1899 to 31 May 1902. The statue was unveiled by the Governor of South Australia, George Le Hunte. the intersection is crowded and all available balconies are being used by the public. Various countries flags are flying from nearby buildings.

Richard Sanders Rogers

[General description] Head and shoulders portrait of Richard Sanders Rogers M.A., M.D. in three quarters view. He was a distinguished physician, specialising in mental health and using hypnosis, was an army medical officer in the South African War and from 1914-19 with the rank of lieutenant-colonel he directed Keswick Base Hospital. He was also an orchid enthusiast, becoming a world authority on Australian orchids.

Dr Richard Sanders Rogers (1861-1942) orchidologist, physician, Army medical officier, colonial militia, mental health practitioner, natural history collector, plant/seed collector. He demonstrated mental telepathy and hypnotic powers, was director of Keswick Base Hospital and accompany his regiment to the South African war.He was a member of various boards, including Public Library, Museum and Art Gallery.
