(T Dixon and Sons, managers) registered Belfast. c.1900 sold to Germany and renamed 'Columbia' and she was dismasted off Cape Flattery, when on a voyage from Japan toward Vancouver in April 1903. Towed into Vancouver, and after survey was abandoned to the underwriters as total constructive loss. Sold, she reverted to her original name and was used as a barge for some time until by 1906 she was refitted as a six mast barquentine and renamed 'Everett G Griggs' registered at Victoria. Captain ER Sterling bought the company owning the vessel and by about 1912 had renamed her 'ER Sterling'. After a disastorous voyage from Australia in 1927, she was towed to England and in 1928 sold to the breakers].

William McMurtry (born 14 March 1857) of Islandmagee, Northern Ireland, was the captain of the 'Fingal', and he died in Sydney, aged 45, while the ship was docked there.

Finally converted into a barge at Los Angeles. Preserved in Hawaii].
