Summary

The iron ship 'Dunboyne', 1425 tons, after being renamed 'A.F. Chapman' [iron ship, 1425 tons ON95311, 243.1 x 37.5 x 21.5. Built 1888 (3) Whitehaven SB Co. Whitehaven. Owners R Martin and Co. registered Dublin. c.1909 sold to Norway without change of name. c.1915 sold to Sweden and renamed GD Kennedy. 1924 renamed AF Chapman and became sail training ship for Swedish navy. Now laid up and used as a hostel].

One of the ships owned by R. Martin and Co., Dublin.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
