The four masted steel barque 'Dundonald', 2205 tons, at Bristol [steel 4 mast barque 2205 tons. ON99121. 284.2 x 42.0 x 24.4. Built 1891 (11) Workman, Clarke and Co. Belfast. Owners T Dixon and Sons, registered Belfast. c.1900 Dundonald Ship Co. (Kerr, Newton and Co.) registered Glasgow. Wrecked March 7, 1907. Disappointment Island, off the Auckland Islands, south of New Zealand, on her voyage from Australia to England. Eleven lives lost].

One of the ships owned by Thomas Dixon and Sons, Belfast.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
