Mount Barker Junction Railway Station

Mount Barker Junction Railway Station

Mount Barker Junction Railway Station. A researcher suggests that the presence of the section car [quad car] on the track near to the signal cabin might suggest a date more around 1910-1915. These section cars were combustion engines. There is a notice board just inside the waiting area of the station building. It is advertising 'Hill Line Railway Excursion Fares'. These notices were typically displayed just a few weeks before their operational date. Under extreme magnification the date of this notice can be seen to be September 2, 1906. The Mount Barker Junction Railway Station was built in 1883 and consisted of a main platform with a timber station building and a signal box next to the building. The island platform was demolished when the station was closed to passengers in 1984.
