General notes

This image which shows 17 gentlemen, and its partner B 59543, are described in the South Australian Register (Adelaide, SA : 1839-1900), Monday 24 October 1887, page 3 VISIT OF THE BEEKEEPERS' ASSOCIATION TO MOUNT BARKER. One of the 17 is probably Coleman, one of the apiary owners. The rest were members of the association, one obviously being the photographer, Joyner (his signature F.A.G. written across bottom left). Others possibly Clough, Cockburn, "Several energetic spirits in the Association took the matter up heartily, and sixteen members responded to the invitation. After, a full inspection of the apiary had been made the Honorary Photographer to the Association requested the members to group themselves in a suitable selected situation, and proceeded to make a picture of them. A number of views of the apairy having been taken ..." [from information provided by researcher].
