Lipson Institute
[General description] The new Institute at Lipson, near Tumby Bay. It was opened by Premier John Verran on 17th February, 1911. A horse-drawn barouche stands in front of the building whilst the driver talks to alighting passengers. Other well-dressed people stand near the door of the building.

Watercolour portrait of Captain Thomas Lipson, first collector of customs, naval officer and harbor master of South Australia. This has been mounted in the centre of a board, with an anchor and flag motif (centre top), and a biographical timeline for Lipson on either side of the portrait.


Henry Lipson Hancock
Henry Lipson Hancock was General Manager of Wallaroo and Moonta Mining and Smelting Company Ltd. According to a researcher, Henry Hancock was the first landowner of the land which is now 215 Kensington Road, Kensington.


Fanny Lipson Finniss
Fanny Lipson Finniss, daughter of Boyle Travers Finniss first Premier of the Province of South Australia, It is claimed that Fanny Lipson Finniss (later Morgan) was the first non indigenous girl born in the colony. The date of birth is either 1 January 1837 or 31 December 1836. The photograph shows a pretty young girl with long dark hair plaited around her head, blessed with wide eyes and a clear complexion.

S. A. Company's Reserve, McLaren Wharf, Port Adelaide. This building stands on the corner of Lipson Street and McLaren Parade. The photograph was taken in the late 1860s. This single storey red brick building has signs stating it houses Railway and General Carriers. A horse drawn wagon awaits loading.


Dunn's Mill, Port Adelaide
Dunn's Mill, Port Adelaide. This six storey steam flour mill was erected by John Dunn junior and was producing flour by 1866. It was burned down later that same year. Sabotage was suspected and the mill was rebuilt the following year and destoyed by fire again in 1887. Dunn eventually owned eleven steam mills. The mill in this photograph was situated between the Port Adelaide railway yard and Lipson Street.
