Catermole's brickworks, Saddleworth. It is possible the owner was John David Cattermole. He and his family moved from Saddleworth to Diapur, Victoria in 1889 where he ran a very successful Brickworks. Most of the buildings in the Nhill area at that time were made of Diapur Brick. He was born in Norfolk, England in 1845 and died in Nhill in 1918 he is buried at Bleak House Cemetery, a few kilometres from Diapur. According to a researcher, it is likely John David Cattermole was born in Waterford, Ireland 1845. The family moved to England. After Saddleworth Cattermole moved to Diapur. His son William James worked as a brickmaker and eventually William Cattermole had brickworks in Bordertown (1907) which his brother, Samuel David Cattermole bought from him in 1913. The Bordertown kilns operated until the 1940s, when it closed.
