Kitty Temple's Hotel at Caveton. Known as Temple's Hotel, this unlicensed sly grog shop was located on the road between Nelson and Mount Gambier from the 1860s to 1870s. It was closed in 1907. The photograph shows a lady, three men and a couple of animals standing outside Temple's Hotel

Mounted Constable Peter Lawrence Hansberry and police horse 'Ceduna'. Hansberry was the first Officer in Charge of Murat Bay (Ceduna) Police Station and stationed there from 13 February 1904 to 30 September 1907, when he was transferred to Nairne Police Station. It is said that Ceduna was named after M/C Hansberry's police horse 'Ceduna' when the town name was changed from Murat Bay to Ceduna in January 1922. Peter Hansberry was the father of the late Chief Superintendent L. Hansberry of SA Police.

[General description] Stanley wine cellars at Clare. These buildings are the newly remodelled premises of the old Clare Jam Factory, re-purposed for the production of wine. The opening took place in February 1897.

[General description] A small grandstand is situated on the Clare sports ground which at this time is a bare expanse of ground with a backdrop of trees. There is a rotunda which can be seen in the background.

Cape du Couedic Jetty - men working on the hoist at the end of the jetty. A landing was constructed one mile north of the lighthouse site to enable the landing of stores and building materials. A zigzag path was built was hewn into the cliff face . The lighthouse, built in 1902, was necessary as shipwrecks had claimed 79 lives off Cape du Couedic, Kangaroo Island.

Cape du Couedic Lighthouse on Kangaroo Island's south west was constructed between 1906-1919 from 2,000 pieces of local stone. Three four roomed cottages were also built of local stone and slate for the roofs. On the day the official party was due to land and officially open the lighthouse the weather was so bad that the signal was sent from the "Governor Musgrave" to the keeper onshore to commence operation.

In 1873 work commenced on a telegraph line from Albany to Adelaide. This important telegraph line was opened in 1877 as a conversion point for American Morse Code (used by South Australia) and International Morse Code (Western Australia)
