Buildings at Keyneton. A researcher has stated that the 'building on left is the Temperance Hall erected in 1872. In 1920 it was renamed the Keyneton Soldiers Memorial Institute when an entrance porch was added. The building on the right is the Keyneton Congregational Church, with the foundation stone laid on May 9th 1865 by Mr John Howard Angas. The land was donated by Mr Henry Evans.

According to 'The Register' (19 November 1925, p. 10c) the three cottages, named 'Faith', 'Hope' and 'Charity', were erected for the S.A. Gas Co. However, Cockburn's 'Pastoral Pioneers' (volume 2, p. 211) states that they were built in 1853 by Michael Calnan.

Kingscote - historic cottages Faith, Hope and Charity. Mr Jeremiah Calnan, recently arrived in Kingscote on the "Africaine" with his wife and children, set off to the mainland to find better conditions for the family. Unfortunately he died but in 1851 his sons set off for the gold diggings in Victoria. They were successful and invested their gold and built three identical stone homes at Reeves Point in 1859. These became known as the Faith, Hope and Charity cottages. Only Charity cottage remained in a fit condition and was occupied by a grandson of Jeremiah. The delapidated Hope cottage and garden was restored and became a museum

It is located on the shores of Lacepede Bay and is located at about 150 miles from Adelaide. The railway was built connecting it to the outside world in 1876. Deep sea and lobster fishing was a significant industry at this time.

The railway was built connecting it to the outside world in 1876 when deep sea and lobster fishing was a significant industry. The first jetty was built in 1864-65 and was 511 feet long and is still used today. In 1876 a second jetty, about 4000 feet long was built but It was wrecked by storms in 1923 and 1956. The current jetty is a remnant of the original jetty.

Settler's shanty at Kingston, River Murray. This settlement had the advantage of pre-existing buildings from the Thurk sheep station. The Chairman was J Weatherall and D Holberton was the secretary. There were 21 married members and the population totalled 100. The settlement suffered from insufficient finance. The settlements were established by the South Australian government to mitigate the effects of the depression which affected the colony. Thirteen settlements were surveyed along the River Murray. They were created to ease the economic depression following the major strikes in the 1890's and the bank crash of 1893. Socialist ideas became popular and utopian schemes were appealing to the unemployed and those struggling to make ends meet. The Kingston Settlement proceeded well for the first few years but later the residents wanted their own blocks of land and wanted to work individually. A faulty pump was their undoing and the settlement was incorporated into the Kingston Irrigation Area in 1914.
