Historical information

No. 3241 Trooper George William Pettit, born in Tallageria, Victoria, son of Edward John Pettit of Binnum, South Australia, worked as a farmer before he enlisted with the AIF on 23 January 1917, at the age of 18. He served with the 3rd Light Horse Regiment, 26th Reinforcement, and embarked with his unit from Adelaide on board the RMS 'Morea' on 22 February 1917. He returned to Australia on 29 May 1917, discharged for being underage.
