Summary

[General description] This two storey building is built from brick with cement dressings around its arched windows and parapet including balustrading. The ground floor features a portico of five arches with decorative pillars. A horse and carriage possibly of the type known as a 'Stanhope', with four wheels and one seat, stands in front of the building. [On back of photograph] 'Acre 139 / Currie Street, south side, June 29,1896. / Site of Elder Smith's premises:- Right side is 8 yards east of Peel Street. Frontage:16 yards / For view of building erected on site in 1937/39 see B 9620.'
