Dinner party menu featuring watercolour illustration of the Bridge of Sighs, Cambridge, by F.W. Baldwin on the front. The inside features the logo for 'P.&O.' The Old Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company and their coat of arms, which includes the royal colours of Portugal and Spain, the Oriental rising sun, and heraldic figures representing countries linked by the P.&O. mail services, Britain, India, China, and Australia, and the Latin motto 'Quis nos separabit' (What will separate us). Under the title 'The Troglodytes' Dinner Party' are listed the menu items with names and initials written in pencil next to each. On the right side are autographs from the guests at the dinner party, including Cyril Richard Cole. On the back page is a caption for the illustration on the front. The dinner party was held on Saturday 13 July 1940 aboard the P.&O. Ship 'Stratheden' which was being used as a transport ship for allied troops during the Second World War.
