Summary

The wooden ketch 'Vivid', 48 tons, in an unidentified harbour [wooden 2 mast ketch, ON73510 48 tons, 65.0 x 18.6 x 6.7. Built 1876 john Bradley, Latrobe, Tasmania. Auxiliary engine added 1915. Owners: Edward M Russell (Port Adelaide) registered Launceston, transferred to Port Adelaide in Feb. 1877. 1897 = Wrsen, Deex and Fricker; later Deex and Fricker. Missing. Left Tumby Bay for Port Lincoln April 9, 1932. Not seen again. See 'Port Lincoln Shipping' by Parsons. 1981]

From the volume titled 'South Australian Owned Coasters, Part I'.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
