Summary

The wooden ketch 'H.J.H.', 72 tons, in an unidentified harbour [wooden 2 mast ketch, 73 tons. ON57582. Built 1877 Huon, Tasmania and named 'Governor Weld' sold in 1899 renamed and lengthened 84.4 x 19.9 x 6.2. Aux. engine fitted c.1909 = 72 gross, 44 net tons. Owners from 1899 Thomas Henry Holyman, registered Launceston. c.1909 Holyman Bros. Ltd. Wrecked on Badger Island, Bass Strait, June 16, 1917. (HJH stands for Helena Josephine Holyman)

From the volume titled 'South Australian Owned Coasters, Part I'.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
