The iron 4 masted barque 'Holyhead', 2336 tons, wrecked on Victorian coast, 1890; and the iron barque 'Glaneuse', 482 tons, wrecked on Victorian coast, 1886 [Holyhead = iron 3 mast barque, 2260 tons. Built 1889. British owned. Wrecked on her maiden voyage outside Port Phillip Heads, Victoria. Feb. 12, 1890].

ON98591, 278.1 x 41.9 x 24.2 Built 1890 (11) Russell and Co. Greenock. Owners John Leslie, registered Glasgow. c.1915-6 to Liverpool owners and survived WW1. When first built was fitted with refrigerating machinery and made her maiden voyage to New Zealand. Was reputed to have been the first four mast barque to have been seen in the area. After this trip she was mainly employed in the Australian trade and made some smart passages. See:'White Wings' Vol. 1 which says she was purchased by Leslie in 1916 - she was SOLD about that time by Leslie. 'Last of the Windjammers'. Vol. 11 dwells upon her alleged bad luck. 'Colonial Clippers' makes brief mention of the ship].

Owners: Galbraith and Moorhead, registered London (later, Galbraith Hill and Co.) 1904/5 G Duncan and Co., Registered London, June 1910 Cook and Dundas: became Russian c. 1914 without change of name. Activities obscure until about 1925 when refitted and became the Soviet Russian cadet training ship 'Tovarisch'. Fate unknown but apparently broken up in Russian in late 1920s].

Made her last seagoing voyage in 1920-21 and then sold to Charles Nelson and Co. of San Francisco. Laid up until 1924 when she was converted to a barge. During WW2 with the shortage of tonnage she was re-rigged as a 6 mast schooner by Americans and renamed Tangara. Actual fate not known but apparently not a success under this last rig].
