Summary

Ngarrinjeri representative, Major Sumner, performs the smoking ceremony in front of the Adelaide War Memorial prior to the Indigenous Veterans Service held on 30th May 2008 to honour Aboriginal servicemen and women who served their country from the Boer War through to present day conflicts. It is estimated that about 500 Aboriginal Australians served in World War I and more than 3,000 served in World War II.
