Summary

Major Sumner (left) holding boomerangs, and another Aboriginal man playing the didjeridu, in front of the Adelaide War Memorial for the Indigenous Veterans Service held on 30th May 2008 to honour Aboriginal servicemen and women who served their country from the Boer War through to present day conflicts. It is estimated that about 500 Aboriginal Australians served in World War I and more than 3,000 served in World War II.
