WILLUNGA: 'Glantawe', a house with partition walls, roof, cellar, ceilings, floors, and wash troughs constructed with slate. The house was designed by Keith Dunstan, a Sydney architect, and erected in 1925.

Demonstration of splitting slate for roofing

WILLUNGA: Bill Meverley and Jack Kernick demonstrate the splitting of slate for roofing. They used a wooden mallet which lessened the shattering effect of hammering. The view was taken on the Official Opening Day of the Australian Slate Quarries Following a 18,000 pound upgrade.
