WILLUNGA: Bill Meverley and Jack Kernick demonstrate the splitting of slate for roofing. They used a wooden mallet which lessened the shattering effect of hammering. The view was taken on the Official Opening Day of the Australian Slate Quarries Following a 18,000 pound upgrade.
