Relieved of command July 1916 following the Battle of Fromelles and returned to Australia. Born Ballarat, Victoria, 15 April 1871, graduated M.A. (Melbourne University), Head Master Box Hill Grammar School, Victoria, Co-principal Presbyterian Ladies' College, Adelaide, Assistant Master Adelaide High School, Assistant in Charge Unley High School, Head Master Woodville High School.
