Lance Corporal Archibald Harold Dowsett
Digital copy of a portrait of Lance Corporal Archibald Harold Dowsett (Spike), No. SX4062. Before enlisting, Dowsett was an official trainer for the Port Adelaide Rowing Club and the Port Adelaide Football Club, and trained the 1937 winning King's Cup Crew. He was one of the many members of the Port Adelaide Rowing Club who served in the Armed Forces during the Second World War. Dowsett enlisted on 31 May 1940 in Adelaide, and at the time of his discharge in February 1945 he was posted with the HQ Guard Battalion.
