Soldier's Memorial Hall, Renma
Soldier's Memorial Hall, Renmark. A settlement began to grow in this area in 1887 when the Renmark Irrigation Settlement was established using open drains to irrigate the orchards planted in the area. The name Renmark comes from the Aboriginal word meaning "red mud". The Capital Theatre was housed in the Soldiers Memorial Hall. The guns out the front of the building are captured German artillery. The memorial stone on the front of the building reads "This stone was laid by General Sir WR Birdwood, Baronet, GCMG, KCB, KCSI, CIE, DSOADC. General to the King, 16th March 1920"

River steamers near Kingston-on-Murray
River steamers Success, Cannally, and Renmark towing the barge Crowie through lock no. 3, Kingston. [From a researcher: On a flooded river, the PS Renmark, towing a granite-laden Crowie barge, could not make headway against the fast flowing stream through the navigable pass at Lock 3 (during its construction). PS Canally was brought into the fray but both steamers still couldn't make headway. PS Success was then added and the combined effort of the three steamers managed to stem the current and make it through the navigable pass. The barge Argo is moored in the background, along with bin barges and a derrick barge].
