View of a woman working in front of racks containing fruit, with a number of empty crates and boxes in the foreground. The location is on a fruit block at Renmark, ca.1947-1950. According to a researcher, these are sultana grapes that are drying. The tins lined up in the foreground are metal and have holes in them so that the hot caustic soda in which the grapes are dipped (open "bath" behind the row of them)- called dip tins can drain through. This splits the fruit so it will dry well - raisins. The dipped fruit is then spread on the racks (left) then onto the hessian to completely dry in the sun.
