Malen and Alice Rumbelow who arrived at Port Adelaide from England on 5 October 1854 and settled at Encounter Bay in January 1855 with their nine children. The Rumbelows were a boating and fishing family residing at Victor Harbor.

Malen and Mary Rumbelow. Malen was the second son of Malen and Alice Rumbelow who arrived from England with his parents in 1854 aged 8 years. He died in 1905 aged 59. See also B45752. Their children included Alice, Godfrey, Jane, Cain, Rose, Malen junior, Henry, Grace. They were a fishing and boating family.

[General description] Alexander Russell was the incumbent of Saint Paul's Church in Pulteney Street from its opening on 10th January 1860. This was reported in the "Register" on 10th January 1860. He was later Dean of Adelaide from 1869.[On back of photograph] no information.

Intimate friend of Frederick Denison Maurice. Came to Adelaide in 1854 and served in the parishes of St John's Adelaide, St Paul's Adelaide. Was appointed Canon and Rural Dean, Vicar-General of the Diocese. Connected with charitable and literary institutions of Adelaide. Published two volumes of poetry The Seeker (1881) and Voices of Doubt (1884).

Victor Herbert Ryan, public servant was born in 1874 near Peterborough and educated in state schools at Burra and Terowie. In 1908 he obtained the post of agent at the newly formed Tourist Bureau. He provided material about South Australia for the agent-general in London. The State War Office directed him to take a train with a band and the Premier around the state to recruit men to become soldiers for the First World War. He arranged Adelaide's peace celebration in 1919 and was appointed an OBE for his efforts. He supervised the British "Barwell Boys" on their indentureship to South Australian farmers. In 1936 he organised South Australia's centenary celebrations. He was a Freemason and Rotarian. In this photograph he is seen using a dictaphone in his office

James Sadler was born in Adelaide in 1860 and died in 1935. After working as a clerk in the Education Department and as an inspector for the Savings Bank of SA he was involved in recruiting for the Adelaide Literary Society. He was also the London Correspondent for the SA Register. Some of his published works include: The Proclamation Tree (1888); The Footballer (1890); Lyrics and Rhymes (1890); Fall In (1914), Some Annals of Adelaide (1933).
