Ulrich Hubbe, taken at Glenelg. He was born in Hamburg and arrived in South Australia in 1842. He is remembered as a journalist and newspaper editor, farmer, teacher, interpreter, land agent, public servant, Lutheran lay reader and legal scholar. His main contribution is to the Real Property Act which simplified the registration of land titles.

William Marks Hugo

William Marks Hugo

William Marks Hugo (1828-1904) missionary and founder of The Bushmen's Club was born in Essex and saw service in the Crimean War, lived in United States of America and Canada and later experienced religious conversion in Queensland. As a missionary he carried a swag and prevailed on others for shelter. Following severe drought he founded the Bushmen's Club which provided dormitories, reading room and a labour office for bushmen. Within two years the club had 700 members. His book "The Origin and Antiquity of Freemasonry" was published in Adelaide.

Andrew Francis Hunter served with the Cape mounted police in South Africa and then went to the Victorian police joining Alexander and James at Calagandoo Station. Later he took up Moorak Station. He was killed by a bull at Mount Gambier in 1854.

Young Bingham Hutchinson was a Royal Navy officer, early explorer and a settler of South Australia. He kept a diary of his voyage on board the "Buffalo". He and William Burt were the first Europeans to climb Mount Lofty, later he explored the Fleurieu Peninsula and Currency Creek. He returned to England in 1838, married and later brought his family of three daughters and two sons to live at Hindmarsh Valley where he died in 1870

Walter Hutley was general secretary of the Liberal Union until 1913. He was a prominent Congregational church man and mission worker. He was born in England and arrived in South Australia in 1884. He also served on the State Children's Council and the Mental Defectives' Board. He lived at Largs Bay and died in 1931 aged 73.

William Herbert Ifould

William Herbert Ifould was born at One Tree Hill in South Australia and became a cadet at the Public Library, Museum and Art Gallery of South Australia in 1892. He introduced the Dewey Decimal Classification System to the library and was appointed principal librarian in 1905. He founded the National Rose Society of New South Wales and established an orange grove at Waikerie. He spent most of his professional life in New South Wales holding various senior librarian positions

Reginald Charles (Rex) Ingamells

Reginald Charles (Rex) Ingamells, South Australian poet, was born at Orroroo January 19, 1913, son of Rev. EM Ingamells. He was educated at various public schools and later at Prince Alfred College. He obtained his Batchelor of Arts degree in 1934 and won the Bundey Prize for English verse in 1935. He wrote 'Gum Tops' published in Adelaide in 1935. He was fascinated by Aboriginal culture and founded the Jindyworobak Movement. He died an untimely death in a car crash near Dimboola in 1955.
