Robert William Botting

Robert William Botting, a carpenter from London (1818-1890). With his brothers Fred and Frank he established a carpentry and joinery business in Adelaide. They helped construct many buildings including the Bank of Australasia. During the Depression he opened a butchery business. He also worked at the Bendigo Gold Fields and farmed on Hindmarsh Island. He moved his family to New Zealand where he opened a successful butchery business and also mined gold. He died in New Zealand in 1890.

Sir James Penn Boucaut

Sir James Penn Boucaut, barrister, free trade politician, Member of Lower House, Premier, race horse breeder, stockman, federationist. He migrated with his parents to South Australia in 1846 and worked as a stockman. In 1851 he turned to the law and was presented to the Bar in 1855. While a Member of the House of Assembly he voted to disallow plural votes for property owners. He resigned from government in 1867 to fight the Moonta Mines case which opposed Sir Walter Hughes being granted a mineral lease ahead of his clients. He was made a QC and Supreme Court Judge in 1978. In his retirement he bred Arab horses on his estate at Mount Barker.

Edward Bromley worked for 39 years as the only divisional meteorologist at the South Australian Weather Bureau. Mr Bromley joined the Weather Office in 1900. When the Commonwealth took over the service in 1908 he became Divisional Meteorologist. He retired in July 1947 at the age of 65

Thomas Lansdowne Browne (1860-1931), Commodore of the Royal South Australian Yacht Squadron, 1892-1893. He was married to Catherine Campbell Crawford (1862-1936). Thomas was the son of John Harris Browne and Margaret Anne Frances Guilding. Thomas owned 19,000 acres on the Koppio Estate near the Flinders Ranges and sold it in 1902. The property ran cattle and sheep and later produced olive oil. Thomas lived at "Duncraig" at Stirling West and was married at Mitcham.

Dr. William James Browne. Reproduced from Cockburn's "Pastoral Pioneers", vol. 1, page 30. William James Brown was a grazier and physician. He is brother to John Harris Browne who was surgeon, explorer and a successful pastoralist. At one stage William Browne was South Australia's largest producer of wool. As a member of the House of Assembly he introduced a Bill to abolish the sale of Crown lands and to lease them out instead. This Bill was thrown out but a similar one was later passed in both houses. Browne lived in Mount Gambier and built Christ Church there.

Douglas Bruce, formerly of H.M.C. Port Adelaide, arrived in South Australia on the "William Nichol" from Greenock via Dublin with Captain Elder on 27 June 1840. He worked for his brother Robert Bruce at his station "Wallelberdina" on the eastern shore of Lake Torrens. They had 25,000 sheep. Douglas died after a fall from a horse in 1873.

Her husband George Brunskill was born in 1799 and died in 1866
