View along the wooden jetty at Port Broughton, with sailing ships moored at the end. According to a researcher, the three mast schooner closest to the camera is the steel schooner "Gerard", built in 1921 in Kiel, Germany. She was owned by R. Fricker and Co, as "Gerard Shipping Co". She traded to ports in South Australia and interstate, and could carry 220 tons of cargo. She ended her days in New Guinea, being sold there in the late 1960's.
