River steamer "Shannon" No copying without permission from the Donor. "Shannon" weighed 122 tons and was built in 1877. She caught fire and was scuttled in 1885. Captain T Freeman bought the damaged vessel and replaced her engine with that from "Stanley". Later Captain Mitchell took her to Tasmania in 1905.

River steamer "Wilcannia" built at Milang in 1876. No copying without permission from the donor. "Wilcannia" was built in 1874 and weighed 144 tons. Her engines were originally from "Telegraph". She was wrecked in 1915 but was still running in 1924. The photograph shows the paddle steamer taking on fire wood on the banks of the river.

She was built originally as a barge "TP" (Tom Permewan) and was converted to a steamer and carried a record load of 450 tons in 1910. Later she became a houseboat moored at Renmark. She was destroyed by fire in 1985.

[General description] The new Paddle Steamer 'Ruby', moored at the river's edge. She was built in 1907 at Morgan by David Milne for Captain Hugh King. (There were three earlier steamers by that name.) This new 'Ruby' carried up to thirty passengers in comfort and had three decks, the lower being for crew and cargo, the middle for the passengers and the upper for the Captain and Mate's quarters. A pile of logs for fuelling the steamboats is seen on the right.

River Steamer "Corowa". George Henry Alexander was born at Medindie in 1875 and moved to Morgan in 1880. He captained the "Corowa" from 1911-1913, and again in 1919. He married and turned to the hotel business in 1925.

River Steamer, "Ruby" in no. 5 lock, near Renmark. Ruby had three decks and carried 30 passengers in comfort. Her light draught meant she could operate when the river levels were low. She was built in 1907 at Morgan and travelled the Morgan to Swan Hill route most of her life

River Steamer "Rothbury" at Mildura. She was built in 1881 as a tow boat towing barges for the wool and logging trade. By 1911 "Rothbury" was supplying the major sawmill at Mildura with logs from the redgum forests. Later she was used for towing lock building materials. She was still working up until the late 1950s.

River steamer Adelaide at Echuca. Paddle steamer "Adelaide" is the oldest wooden hulled paddle steamer still operating in the world. The original owners used the steamer to transport wool to Echuca from nearby sheep stations. In her time the "Adelaide" was used as a passenger boat and logging steamer. She was built in 1866
