During the construction of the new Railway Bridge showing the scaffolding around the pylons or correctli 'piers'. The timber scaffolding is the falsework which supports the trusses while they are being erected. It is removed once the truss is complete and can support its own weight. Piers support the trusses and carry to loads to the foundations. The word is pylons is not usually applied to bridges.

River steamers at Murray Bridge : The Victor, Length 93ft, Beam 14ft, Draft 5ft built at Goolwa 1877: The Venus, Length 110ft, Beam 19ft, Draft 6ft, built at Pt Adelaide 1867. The 'Tyro' is also pictured behind these two vessels. The PS Tyro was used for trading on the Murray River between 1872 and 1926. She was built by S Shetliffe and Sons at Goolwa. In 1897 she was almost destroyed by an exploding boiler.

[General description] P.S. Waradgery, built in 1865 at Moama is moored at the Murray Bridge wharf. She has a large pile of firewood on her deck. [On back of photograph] 'Stern wheel paddle steamer 'Waradgery' at Murray Bridge / 1895'.

Farmer's Union, Murray Bridge

South Australian Farmer's Union, Murray Bridge. Cream was transported to to the Murray Bridge and Tailem Bend factories by motor launches on the river. Whole milk was transported from local farms for the production of cheese. The company operated four boats to pick up milk and passengers from landings from Mannum to Wellington.
