Colin James Ellis, World War II photograph album, Darwin.
Comprising a World War II photograph album of 49 pages created by Private Colin James Ellis 'S21513', during his service in Darwin, in the 27th Infantry Battalion (South Australian Scottish Regiment) 20/11/1941-18/8/1943. The album consists of 49 composite pages, each page with an average of 4 individual photographs, which document Ellis' war service in Darwin and surrounding regions whilst serving in the 7MD Field Postal Unit. Included are images of everyday life in service, servicemen and military scenes in Darwin and Larrakeeyah (Northern Territory), Japanese Air Raid scenes during and after the attacks, damage caused by air raids including sunken ships and burned out buildings, Adelaide River headquarters, general landscape and leisure scenes, scenes of men and women off-duty. There is a section of pages at the end which illustrate Army troupes marching though Wagga Wagga (New South Wales) Labour Day 7/10/1943. Much of the photograph album is captioned. Water coloured, lithographed map of land sections in the County of Hindmarsh, South Australia showing townships, drainage, bridges, reserves, the area of the Mount Barker mineral survey and numbered sections with unsold sections marked. The boundaries of the hundreds with the County are shown in colours and an inset map shows the adjoining Counties of Russell and Sturt around the Murray Lakes, Hindmarsh Island and the Murray Mouth. Lake Alexandrina is shown as Lake Victoria (its change of name proposed after the accession of Queen Victoria). Archival copies indicate land and section holdings of the South Australian Company.

Golden Wedding anniversary
Harry Watson and his wife Adelaide Elizabeth (nee Menz) gathered with their children and grandchildren at 'Kandaha', Plympton. It is thought to have been taken on their 50th wedding anniversary in 1936, but the ages of the children suggest that is is some years earlier. The couple married on 27 March 1886, and had nine children - Jack (died aged 10 weeks), Stanley, Fred, Lucy, Phoebe Madeline, Arthur, Benjamin, Adelaide Rita and Jean. White during the trip around Kangaroo Island. The envelope containing the prints carries a note which reads 'K.I. Trip with Sir Tom Bridges - round the Island by [Dort] car'.
