Church, Mount Gambier
St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Mt. Gambier. The church was opened in 1860. Following an earthquake in 1896 which destroyed the church spire it was decided to rebuild it and add another ten feet to make it the highest spire in Mount Gambier.


Hospital, Mount Gambier
Mount Gambier Hospital showing two wings, the older one being on the right was built in approximately 1870. The two storey stone buildings are typical of the Victorian era with decorative dressings around the doors and windows, towers, cupolas, large ornate chimneys and even a widow's walk. The foundation stone was laid on 12th February, 1867 by Mr James C. Lyon.


Christ Church, Mount Gambier
Christ Church (Anglican), Mount Gambier. The foundation stone was laid by Leonard Gilbert Browne, eldest son of Dr Browne who was with Charles Sturt on his Central Australia expedition. The stone was laid in 1865 February 21. Bishop Short gave an address


Mount Gambier Hospital
Mount Gambier Hospital was established in 1869 and demolished in 1971. Dolomite from the first hospital was later used in the construction of vestry of the Christ Church Anglican


Church, Mount Gambier
St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Mount Gambier has been serving the people since Reverend James Don began his ministery in 1858. The Gothic revival church, built in 1870-71 was constructed of square rock faced with pink dolomite with cut limestone dessings. The spire was entirely rebuilt in 1885 and partially rebuilt again in 1928. The church in this photograph replaced a small presbyterian kirk which was built in 1860


Star Theatre, Mount Gambier
Star Picture Theatre, Mount Gambier in 1918. Films advertised include "Sign of the Cross", "Within our Gates". "The Dandies", "The Heroine". Star Pictures was originally housed in the Institute in 1912. Star Threatre reopened in 1928 in a revamped building complete with rows of wooden seats

Mount Gambier Hospital was constructed on the slopes of the Lakes area on the south side of Lake Terrace, West. It was a substantial stone building complex and served the district for many years. It was demolished in 1971 and part of the dolomite was used to complete additions to the vestry of the Anglican Christ Church
