Camel cart ride at Anna Creek Station

Sandra Lee (second from right) and her sister Denise next to her riding on the camel cart which was used for general transportation at Anna Creek Station, at that time the largest cattle station in the southern hemisphere. Also pictured are a number of Aboriginal men and a child, with a load of wood in front. The photographer was the girls' father, Frank Lee, who was the station mechanic and general 'Mr Fixit'.

The Forest Inn Temperance Hotel situated on the corner of Anzac Highway and South Road after conversion to small shops; now demolished. Kevin Monaghan and his Grandmother, Mrs. Annie Way Lee are standing outside the building. The photo was taken at the Forest Inn and sent to Kevin's Auntie Lily in Sydney, who was the daughter of Yett Soo War Way Lee. A billboard by the shop advertises the Women's Weekly 'June Brides Special Issue' published on 5 June 1937.

An incomplete account of Lizzie Foreman's trip to Toolatchie Homestead in the mid-north as a companion to the recently married Mrs Lavinia Annie Lee, wife of John Lee, who tragically became sick and died. The account mentions a number of outback stations and the names of people they met on their trip. Lizzie later became Lizzie Badge.
