Barwell Boys from the 'Balranald'
Young British immigrant men who were selected under the Barwell scheme to become farm labourers in South Australia, and travelled out on S.S. 'Balranald', photographed in Adelaide on 23 April 1924. The photographer is likely to have been the welfare officer J.W. Scholefield, who came up from Outer Harbor with these 50 'Barwell Boys' to the Immigration Offices at Kintore Avenue, where the photograph may have been taken.

'Old and New'
A view of one of the Destitute Asylum buildings, now demolished, which stood on the eastern side of the compound off of Kintore Avenue. The sandstone building has decorative wooden eaves, a steep slate roof and deep verandah. A two storey brick building, part of the University of Adelaide precinct, stands adjacent with its tile roof and fire escape.
