Glannant, Dequettville Terrace

Photographs of 'Dannant', 30 Dequettville Terrace, Kent Town owned by Mr. Jabez Edwin Thomas showing the original old colonial style building before the alterations made after Mr. Thomas' death. The home was built of Tapley's Hill bluestone by Mr. G.P. Harris ca.1854. Subsequently it had a number of owners, including Sir E.T. Smith, who, however, did not live in it, but sold it to a bank. Mr. J.E. Thomas (whose wife was a grand-daughter of Robert and Mary Thomas of 'The Register') acquired the property from the bank in 1896 and made certain alterations, and named the house 'Glannant'. Upon Mr. Thomas' death in 1920, his son-in-law Mr L.M. Harvey lived in the house and made some alterations. In 1951 the house was acquired by the Country Women's Associations and became their headquarters.
