Florence and George Oswald

Private Edmund George Oswald in miltiary uniform with his wife Florence (Flo) Emma Oswald (nee Green). They were married in London at St Matthias Church on 23 January 1919. Florence is seated and wearing a wide-brimmed hat, fur scarf, a long double-breasted coat and holding a pair of gloves in her left hand. Underneath the photo is inscribed: 'Love from Flossie and George. 4/5/19. (1919)'. On the back of the photo is inscribed: 'Soon be home Mum, old dear. xxxxxx' in pencil. A newspaper obituary notice for George Oswald, 6 November 1938, is stuck on the back of the photograph.

Paddle steamer 'Marion'

Paddle steamer 'Marion' moored alongside two other river boats. The notation on the verso reads 'PS Marion with barges c.1919. The 'Marion' was first converted from a barge to cargo steamer for use along the Darling. In 1908 she was refitted for passneger service and ran between Murray Bridge and Renmark. She ended her working life as a tourist boat in the [19]40s and may now be found preserved as a memorial at Mannum. Photo: Frank Tucker Collection'. This photo is part of the Sheahan Collection which consists of 114 views depicting river craft and two steam boat captains, bridges, and locks on the Murray River in South Australia.

Mill Cottage, Port Lincoln

Mill Cottage, Port Lincoln

The garden, trees and gate around Mill Cottage, Port Lincoln. Mill Cottage was built for Captain John Bishop's son, storekeeper Joseph Kemp Bishop, and his family. The first four rooms were constructed in 1866. After his death in 1937, Joseph Bishop's daughter Amy lived in the cottage until her death in 1963. The cottage is now a museum housing many Bishop family artefacts.

Photograph of a drawing showing a landscape of trees with a river curving in the distance. The intials G. M. S. are on the corner of the drawing. Mary, the wife of George Milner Stephen and daughter of South Australian Governor John Hindmarsh, created several drawings showing early Government House and other scenes in South Australia, and it is thought that this drawing may be one of hers.
