Sarah Hobbs doing a pre-flight check

Sarah Hobbs doing a pre-flight check at William Creek for Wright Air. The photographer comments, "I was interested in the fact that six out of eight of the pilots at Wright Air are women, which is a far cry from the pioneering days of aviation where women pilots were virtually un-heard of. The six girls have found that there are virtually no issues with tourists, in fact their youthful energy and enthusiasm has been a hit with the tourists, particularly the female passengers who are always delighted to have a lady pilot up front. I asked Sarah what drew her to William Creek to fly planes for Wright Air, she told me that it was one of the only places that she could gain valuable experience at low level flying, which she loved to do."
