Sacred Heart College, Glenelg. In 1914 the Marist Brothers acquired Paringa Hall from a wealthy pastoralist James Francis Cudmore who had died in 1912. The grand house is a triple storey classical design with a tower, ornate spacious verandahs, bookend bay windows and contains twenty rooms and was designed by architect Edmund Wright.

St. Peter's Church of England. This first church built on Torrens Square Reserve was opened for divine service in 1852. In 1882 the first church was demolished to make way for a much larger one which was consecrated in 1883.

[General description] People are lining the rails of the upper decks of the three storey pavilion at the end of the Glenelg Jetty. According to a researcher, it was built by Robert Ernest Stanley, (born 1861, died 1926) an Unley builder but historian Geoffrey Manning states that 'The pavilion was erected by Messrs Sigalis & Company at a cost of nearly £2,300 and opened by the Premier, Thomas Price, on 26 October 1907'.

Beach scene at Glenelg on 28 December 1911. The beach shows many people walking on the firm sand enjoying the sunny weather. A few younger people are paddling in the shallows. Many tents, beach shades and carriages are crammed onto the upper foreshore and grass. The town hall can be seen to the south in Moseley Square. The bell tower of St Andrew's can be seen on the extreme left of the photograph.

Glenelg jetty in 1902. In 1859 the original 381 metre jetty was built with a lighthouse positioned at the end. This caught fire and was cast into the sea to save the jetty. A replacement lighthouse was built in 1874. Public baths, an aquarium, police shed and a three storey kiosk and tearooms were later constructed.

Glenelg Jetty probably in the 1880s. Originally the jetty was built with a T-head wooden lighthouse but this was destroyed by fire in 1873. At the time of this photograph an arm at the end of the jetty has been added to provide more mooring space for shipping

An inspection in 1951 found the hostel in an unsatisfactory condition but by 1967 it was awarded "Hostel of the Year". Nissen huts were added in 1951 and the complex could house up to 800 people

A steamer is moored at the end of the jetty and a passing steamer is decorated with bunting to mark the special occasion.

Survey frigate H.M.A.S. Barcoo (F375) ashore near Glenelg, South Australia. Barcoo was swept ashore during a storm which struck Adelaide in the early hours of Sunday 11 April 1948. After several failed attempts Barcoo was refloated on 20 April 1948.
