Papers relating to the Apex Club of Glenelg

Mackenzie, Doug, 1949, Manuscript, PRG 1459/6

Items relating to Doug Mackenzie's involvement in the Apex Club of Glenelg's fundraising activities. They include tickets for the 'Buccaneers Ball' (1949), 'Cosmopolitan Cabaret' (1950), 'Arctic Cabaret' (1951) and the 'Prehistoric Cabaret' (1953), together with photographs of decorations used in the 1951 and 1953 events. A garden party in March, 1963, at Kapara was an occasion to wear medals. Still an active worker for the division, Mrs Mary Holmes of Lobethal 1963 was awarded a rosette for her 60 years service.

One woman is wearing what appears to be a moss green skirt with matching jacket and is carrying a brown handbag whilst the other woman is wearing a black and white print dress and a pale grey overcoat. The man in the middle is wearing a grey suit with a matching hat. There is evidence of construction work being undertaken to preserve the tree.

Glenelg train in King William Street, Adelaide

The Glenelg train outside the Courts buildings on the south western corner of Victoria Square, with passengers exiting from the train. The photograph is overlaid by a brief history of the train which stopped coming up to Victoria Square 31 May 1914, suggesting that was it's last time to that spot.

Plane propeller on the gate of Jimmy Melrose's house at 13 South Esplanade, Glenelg. After his plane crash Jimmy's mother, Mrs. Hilda Melrose, had the propeller placed on the gate The house has since been demolished and the whereabouts of the propeller is unknown.
